Oldham Sports & Community Club is a volunteer-managed, member-funded local community facilities provider, which accomodates sports playing, meeting room and leisure facilities.
We host sports playing facilities for two clubs that have represented the town of Oldham for more than 100 years – Oldham & Werneth Lacrosse Club and Oldham Cricket Club. We provide meeting and leisure facilities for the local community as well as a growing number of local community groups.
Oldham Sports & Community Club aims to provide opportunities for all people from across the borough and the wider area, with the chance to participate in sport and physical activity at a local level. Through providing localised activity, sport has proved to be a unique tool to assist and address numerous agendas such as health improvement, social inclusion, community cohesion, crime diversion and reduction in anti-social behaviour.
In addition to sports activity, Oldham Sports & Community Club works with the local community to deliver events such as a Bonfire Night fireworks display, funfair and community fun days. It also has a limited partnership in delivering some programmes with other organisations, such as the voluntary youth service, the Integrated Youth service and Groundwork.
